Cicor takes over production activities on behalf of Mercury
Bronschhofen/Lancy/Andover - Cicor and Mercury have concluded a strategic supply agreement. This will see a production facility transferred to Cicor in its role as outsourcing partner. The focus of the partnership will be on stable supply chains and joint growth in the aerospace and defense (A&D) market.
(CONNECT) The Cicor Group from Bronschhofen in the canton of St.Gallen, Switzerland, has announced a strategic supply partnership with Mercury Mission Systems International SA. According to a press release, in its role of outsourcing partner Cicor will therefore be acquiring a production operation with 34 employees in Plan-Les-Ouates in the canton of Geneva and will assume responsibility for supplying part of Mercury’s electronics manufacturing in Europe. Mercury is headquartered in Andover in the US State of Massachusetts, with the international headquarters situated in Lancy, also in the canton of Geneva.
“In anticipation of increased European and global demand for defence products, Mercury's management has decided to streamline internal operations and transfer a part of its European electronics manufacturing to Cicor”, the St.Gallen-based firm writes in the press release. The plans also envisage the relocation of production activities to the Cicor sites in Newport in the UK and Bronschhofen within the next 18 months.
This step will reportedly allow Mercury to focus more intensively on its core competencies in the area of development and system integration. According to the information, the decision was made in favor of Cicor owing to its broad expertise and geographical presence across Europe.
The strategic business relationship that has now been established is said to be proof that Cicor’s “pan-European platform for the development and manufacturing of mission critical electronic solutions responds perfectly well to the need of the European A&D industry to establish robust and scalable supply chains”.
Cicor is a global provider of development and manufacturing services for high-end electronics and supplies companies operating in the medical, industrial, aerospace and defence sectors. ce/heg
