Debrunner Metallservice doubles capacities in Sennwald

St.Gallen/Sennwald - Debrunner Metallservice AG has made a high single-digit million investment in a precision slitting line at its Sennwald site. This will double the company’s capacities at this site. Further expansion steps are in the pipeline.

Debrunner Metallservice AG, which prior to January 1, 2024, traded as Metall Service Menziken, is expanding its site in Sennwald in the canton of St.Gallen, Switzerland. A new precision slitting line has been bought and installed following a high single-digit million investment. According to a press release, this was inaugurated at the end of November in the presence of Barbara Dürr, the President of the Cantonal Council of St.Gallen, as part of a customer event.

According to a press release, the company is creating a Europe-wide competence and service center for slit strips made from aluminum, steel, stainless steel and copper with this major investment. Slit strips are used in a wide range of applications in the mechanical engineering, electrical, construction and automotive industries, for example in casings, components and system components.

Debrunner Metallservice is one of four business units of Debrunner Koenig AG, which is headquartered in St.Gallen. This investment is one of the largest in the group’s history.

The machine’s high level of automation should lead to “far shorter” throughput and delivery times. With the new precision slitting line, Debrunner Metallservice AG “is doubling its capacities”, comments Reto Caprez. In addition to being a member of the group management, Caprez heads up the group’s Metal Service division and is Managing Director of Debrunner Metallservice. At the same time, the system works with “extraordinary precision and demonstrates versatility in output”, the press release explains.

The company highlights two aspects in favor of investing in its Sennwald site: Firstly, the municipality is connected to both the highway and rail network, and secondly it is situated close to the border with the EU. “Further expansion measures are in the pipeline”, Caprez states, adding that: “We believe in the future of Switzerland as a place of business”. ce/mm
