Jedsy conducting drone flights for Asklepios

Berneck/Bad Oldesloe - Jedsy drones will be regularly transporting laboratory samples for Asklepios clinics in Germany. The German Federal Aviation Office has now granted approval for these drone flights on the back of an agreement originally signed by the two companies back in 2023.

(CONNECTJedsy, a start-up based in the St.GallenBodenseeArea that is backed by Delivery Glider AG from Berneck in the canton of St.Gallen, has taken over responsibility for the commercial transport of laboratory samples for the Asklepios Group in Germany. As detailed in a press release, the drones developed by the company from Berneck are to be used to fly samples from the Asklepios Privatklinik Blomenburg in Selent, a hospital with a focus on psychiatric services, to the Asklepios Klinikum Bad Oldesloe, another hospital in the group located 60 kilometers away. This is where the Medilys laboratories affiliated with the hospital group are located.

The partnership between Jedsy and Asklepios was originally agreed back in 2023. The drone operator has now secured approval from the German Federal Aviation Office, according to the press release. Another aim of the agreement is to make use of the innovative transport solution across all 170 Asklepios locations, which it is hoped will not only promote sustainability but also lead to an improvement in patient care.

“Currently, laboratory samples are collected by car, which can take two to three hours or even longer until the results are available”, comments Joost Rohrmann, Managing Director of Blomenburg Clinics, in the press release. Patrick Hauser, Managing Director of Medilys Laboratory, believes that the new project offers “a solution that benefits all parties and truly takes us a step forward”.

Jedsy has already gained relevant experience in both Switzerland and Malawi. The new drone, the Jedsy X, can fly up to 120 kilometers with the ability to dock directly at windows. The drones are also weatherproof and can be accurately flown in wind speeds of up to 40 kilometers per hour. The company is SAIL-3 certified, which means that its drones are permitted to fly over densely populated areas. ce/ww
