Degersheim primary school upgrades with Lista Office LO
Degersheim - Lista Office LO has upgraded four classrooms at the primary school in Degersheim in the Swiss canton of St. Gallen. The flexible furniture makes it easy to adapt the classroom to different styles of teaching and learning, turning the space itself into a teacher.
Lista Office LO upgraded four classrooms at Degersheim primary school in time for the start of the new school term in mid-August, according to a statement from the international office outfitter, also based in Degersheim. The agile furniture in the Steinegg school building is designed to open up new opportunities for creative teaching and motivated learning, explains ListaOffice LO in the project description. “Modern teaching is founded on using a variety of teaching methods,” Headteacher Stefan Gübeli is quoted as saying. “The new furniture system makes it easy to adapt and provide the versatility required.”
For class teacher Madlene Keller, it is important to be able to transform quickly between learning styles without having to make major changes. “It’s also important that these transformations happen without disturbing the other children,” Keller is quoted as saying. “That means that we – both the teachers and the students – need to be able to move the furniture around and create a new classroom layout quickly, quietly and easily.”
Degersheim primary school had the opportunity to thoroughly test different options before purchasing the new furniture. “This meant that we could be confident that our students would not only be able to work with the new system, but would enjoy doing so,” adds Keller. “What I've seen since the refit is that the classroom has a noticeably different atmosphere.” The class teacher describes the space as feeling lighter and airier, as well as more spacious. She believes this has had “noticeable positive effects on our students’ thinking and motivation”. ce/hs
