Varioprint wins first prize in CSEM Digital Journey 2024

Heiden/Neuchâtel - Varioprint has been presented with the prestigious first prize of the CSEM Digital Journey 2024 competition, worth 100,000 Swiss francs. The prize ceremony was part of the Swiss technology innovation center’s 40th anniversary celebration.

Varioprint AG from Heiden in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden was named the overall winner at this year’s CSEM Digital Journey competition, as the Swiss technology innovation center reported in a press release. The circuit board manufacturer won for its “AI in Every Pixel” project. This solution uses artificial intelligence and a high-speed 3D vision system to inspect printed circuit boards “with unrivaled precision and speed”. According to Remo Kürsteiner, IT Manager at Varioprint, “with the support of CSEM’s Digital Journey Award and by receiving the Grand Prize of 100,000 Swiss francs in development and digital technology transfer hours, we'll be able to accelerate the market launch of our technology and potentially open up key partnerships on an international scale”.

Second place with a grant of 50,000 Swiss francs went to Contexa. The dosing robot specialist from Plan-les-Ouates in the canton of Geneva impressed the jury with its solution that can simultaneously dose up to 200 ingredients. Through its Digital Journey competition, CSEM aims to accelerate the digitalization of Swiss SMEs.

The prizes were presented at celebrations to mark CSEM’s 40th anniversary. More than 800 experts and industry leaders gathered at the Kursaal Bern on 14 November, the CSEM reported. As part of the CSEM Business Days, the technology innovation center created a special “Innovation Garden”, which showcased 80 cutting-edge technologies from its 40-year history. ce/hs
