St.Gallen/Bern - The University of St.Gallen and auto-schweiz have partnered to establish a professorship of Mobility Management. The association of official automobile importers in Switzerland and Liechtenstein is providing finance in the amount of 2.68 million Swiss francs for the Chair.

(CONNECT) The University of St.Gallen (HSG) and auto-schweiz, the association of official automobile importers in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein, have signed an agreement to finance a professorship for Mobility Management. According to a press release, the association is providing a total of 2.68 million francs to finance the project. This will cover 50 per cent of the costs for the professorship over the next eight years.

The Chair will be based at the Institute for Mobility (IMO-HSG). It will conduct research into future-oriented solutions for an optimal interaction with all kinds of mobility solutions and teach in this field.

“We intend to conduct even more in-depth research into a range of topics,” explained Andreas Herrmann, Director of IMO-HSG, in the press release. “These include the transformation of the automotive industry, new business models for an autonomous and networked world of mobility and looking deeper into mobility needs in cities and rural areas. The exact thematic orientation of the professorship will of course depend on the appointment.”

According to the president of auto-schweiz, Peter Grünfelder, “HSG is one of the most progressive and innovative business universities in Europe”. He goes on to say that this “cooperation and the research into future topics at HSG is therefore nothing but consistent. With the new auto-schweiz Chair of Mobility, mobility, as one of the most important Swiss economic sectors, will receive sound scientific support in overcoming current and future challenges”.

The University of St.Gallen will launch the appointment process in the coming months. ce/ww
