University of St.Gallen Master programme recaptures global top spot

St.Gallen/London - For the 13th time, the University of St.Gallen (HSG) in Switzerland has topped the ‘Financial Times’ global ranking with its Master in Strategy and International Management. The ranking of the 100 best business schools in the world includes those in Lausanne, Winterthur and Lucerne.

The University of St.Gallen (HSG) offers the best Master programme worldwide, according to the global ranking Masters in Management (MiM) 2024 published by the London-based business newspaper ‘Financial Times’. HSG’s Master in Strategy and International Management (SIM-HSG) returned to the top spot after ranking second in the previous year. This is the 13th time SIM has held this top position. HEC Paris and newcomer to the ranking, INSEAD, follow in 2nd and 3rd place.

The ranking of business schools is based on criteria such as graduates' salaries, career opportunities, quality of the alumni network, diversity and international work mobility, as well as commitment to environmental, social and governance factors.

Outside Asia, HSG graduates recorded the second-highest average salary of 140,020 US dollars, just behind HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management. The HSG ranked first for the goals achieved by its graduates. It also came top in students' assessment of career counselling and the alumni network, as well as in overall student satisfaction.

“At HSG, we strive to empower dedicated talents to develop into responsible, entrepreneurial leaders,” HSG President Manuel Ammann is quoted as saying in a statement from the university. “The SIM programme represents precisely this vision.” 

The Master of Science in Management at HEC Lausanne is in 47th position. It performs particularly well in terms of career progression (12th place) and sustainability in teaching (3rd place). In 51st place is the ZHAW School of Management and Law in Winterthur with its Master of Science in International Business. It is ranked 17th for career progression. The Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts is ranked 100th. It secured particularly good ratings for the apprenticeship programme: 8th place for overall student satisfaction and 4th place for value for money. ce/mm
